Dear Friends, this morning I woke up in a Christmas scene. These are pictures of my street and backyard.
In two days I am starting my Christmas holiday. I will be off for a whole week!! Looking fwd to it very much. I am ready for a break.
The last months have been extremely busy but fruitful.
Just to give you a bit of an idea of what I have been doing....
Last week I gave several presentations in cell groups my home church about my job. It was a lot of fun. I hadn't shared in that much detail for a few years. It was great to see how my home church is still so interested after more than 8 years! It made me thankful for all my supporters who are so faithfull.
In november a woman's convention raised 4000 euro for VVF after I asked the organizer who I know well, if she could give the VVF-project some pr. She organised this offering as a response. I gave them some information and the result was amazing. I am so thankful!
I also wrote my Christmas newsletter in November which was sent out to my supporters and ofcourse to family and friends by regular mail (not everyone likes email that much). I got all the adresses together etc, and met with my home support committee who sent it all out. I had done it by myself the last few years, so this was a wonderful experience to have help!
In November we had an info booth at Europort Maritime. I am still liaising with several maritime editors I met at this maritime convention in Rotterdam. Hopefully this will lead to some good PR eventually.
Last week I translated/wrote a story for a Dutch newspapers website. It turned out quite well. It's been only on for a few days now and read 129 times... (hopefully that's not just clicks and people did read it!)... The link is www.trouw.nl/idealen (sorry, it's in Dutch, however, it's the story of Tamba and is also published on http://www.mercyships.org/site/apps/nl/content2.asp?c=ehKHI0PJIqE&b=2735009&ct=4734563
This week I sent all our 40 volunteers a Christmas greeting, we wrote our montly e-news, I sent calenders to friends and families of co-workers and worked for most of the week on editing our new website jointly with our webdesigner. We were hoping we would have it launched by this week, but now seeing how much we still need to do, I think we can be very lucky if it will be launched 1 february.. anyway, very tempting to work nights and in my christmas holiday, but I decided not to do that! :)
Hoping we will get some ice here, so we can skate... that would be the first in years....
That's my update for now... Many blessings and....
Merry Christmas!
Geertje
